Jenna's hotter than ever giving hubby Justin Sterling the rubdown is this 2004 remake of the 1990 porn classic.

As a sex worker, I always find it interesting to see how other sex workers are portrayed on film. Whether the depiction is accurate and well researched or exploitative and stereotypical is usually what makes the grade for me. My porn buddies Dave and Mark highly recommended "The Masseuse" saying it was "totally hot", but not commenting too much on the realism of the story (it is porn after all), and I would have to say this is definitely one that makes the grade.

The original version of "The Masseuse" was made in 1990 and starred Hyapatia Lee as the original massager and Randy Spears as the stalker-ish massagee. It swept the AVN awards at the time, taking Best Picture and a slough of other awards and became an instant porn classic. All this was unusual considering the film contained only one sex scene and played out like a soap opera more than a porno flick. This time around Director Paul Thomas decided to re-make his own classic, putting the one-and-only Jenna Jameson in the lead and Jenna's real-life husband Justin Sterling as her obsessed client. Once again, the film swept the AVN awards last year, taking home Best Film, Best actor and Actress, Best Director, and Best Girl/Girl sex scene, among others.

The story begins with shy computer tech Jim (Sterling) looking at porn on the job accidentally getting caught by his sexy co-worker (Wendy Devine). She tries to ask Jim out on a date, but he rejects her advances, instead opting to get a rubdown at a local massage parlor. Lucky for Jim, he gets paired up with masseuse Barbara (Jameson), who seems somewhat bored with her job. Jim's nervous at first, but he attempts to touch Barbara's breasts, which makes her feel uncomfortable at first, but soon enough she takes off her top for him. He admits to Barb that he's a -gasp! -virgin and pleads for the obligatory handjob, promising Barb a tip afterwards. The particular scene was uncomfortable to watch and sexy at the same time. The script is accurate to a T...I can't tell you how many times I've been in the same situation.

Meanwhile, Jim's sexy co-worker is still hounding him, but instead he returns to the massage parlor looking for Barbara. This time she's busy, but he's content to wait for her and beg her to see him on her time off. Irritated Barb agrees, but this time around Jim wants a little more that a handjob. Shelling out all the cash he has, Barb agrees to a blowjob only if Jim keeps quiet about it to the management. Eventually the relationship progresses and Barb agrees to see Jim at his home, where he ties her up in an elaborate S/M setup. Later, Barb engages in some hot girl/girl action with girlfriend Helen (Savana Samson), but disappointed Jim doesn't get in on the action.

All this leaves Jim wanting more so he pleads with Barb "let's go on a date", but Barb replies with "get real". Apparently Jim is living in a fantasy world that he can't seem to escape. He turns into full-fledged stalker by calling Barb incessantly at work, but she doesn't return his calls. Meanwhile, Jim's sexy co-worker is getting laid by another sex co-worker (Evan Stone) while all he can do is sit around and wait for Barb's call.

So Jim takes his stalking one step further and follows Barb home one night. When she opens the door, Jim gets a big suprise he wasn't expecting and his fantasy is shattered. Pissed off Barb finally explains the situation to confused Jim, "I do things and you pay me... I'm safe." Jim explains he's afraid of getting hurt in real relationships, but he loves Barb. So Barb finally gives in to Jim, most likely so he'll get her out of his system, and no longer is he a virgin. Of course, reality sets in once again, and Jim's delusions about the two having an actual relationship are soon shattered. Such is the reality of a man who pays for sex

Despite the strange tensions between Barb and Jim, the film is actually very romantic in a sense and the chemistry between Sterling and Jameson is obviously, very real. Though Sterling's performance may seem a little dry to some, it is actually dead-on for his character. I could swear I've met guys just like him several times on the job. His dilemma is very typical of an industry client-a man who would prefer to pay for sex from a woman who treats him badly than have it for free with someone who actually likes him. The story here is not just a pornographic fantasy, it is an everyday reality with a twist. From a sex worker's perspective, I was very impressed.

As an added bonus, the DVD set includes the original version of "The Masseuse" with Lee and Spears. The re-make is almost word-for-word identical along with a few added scenes, but the idea remains the same. This is an excellent film for women and especially couples to watch as it caters to the interests of both sexes. The melodramatic storyline will please the women while men with love the girl/girl action and of course, Jenna. It is also recommended for porn novices, as the sex isn't too extreme or long-winded. "The Masseuse" is a must-have for any adult film collection!
